EcoHaus Retrofit in 12 steps

12 steps to a successful low energy Retrofit project

1. Initial Retrofit Consultation

During our initial consultation we can learn a little about the characteristics of your existing home, what you would like to improve about it, the measurable Eco House Retrofit standards you can aim for and the ways in which your dream can become reality including consideration of your financial budget.

2. Your Dream

This step is aimed at discovering more about your dream. What do you want. What do you need. Why? What are your key drivers for embarking on an Eco Haus project.
This will result in our brief that will guide us to the end of the project.

3. Surveying Your Home

Now we understand what you want, we need to learn what we have to start with.
This process will involve not only measurements, but faults and failures in the existing building including your knowledge of key areas for improvement.

4. Design your Retrofit Strategy.

With a good understanding of your existing home, and what your dreams are for it to become we can now put together a 1st draft strategy of how to take it from today to the future.

5 Initial Costing

With the knowledge we have gained about your project so far, we can begin to establish approximate costings. This process will help narrow our focus through the remaining stages of transforming your home with an Eco Haus Retrofit

6. Refine The RetrofitDesign

Now we can take our retrofit strategy from concept to excellence.
The previous processes will allow the team to discuss the variety of different solutions, and discover the strategy that will deliver the greatest value.

7. Planning Your Retrofit

Now we have a refined plan, we can begin to allocate money, management, manpower, materials and machines, to each aspect of the job.
This process will allow us to further understand  the refined strategy including design and begin to look into the buildability details, and specific specifications.

8. Produce costings for the proposed design.

Now we have a very good understanding of the details of your project.
The team of specialist contractors have good knowledge of what is required from them.
Between us we can at this stage produce and agree on accurate costings based on the design specification.

9. The Retrofit Builders Arrive

Now the fun begins as your home becomes prepared to start your retrofit dream
This is where a lot of the risk lies in a construction project.
Thanks to our thorough process to this point all parties involved, who have worked collaboratively to this point, have an excellent vision of what is required, and many previously unknown problems will already have been solved.

10 Monitoring Progress

Now we have a great strategy and we are implementing it.
But is the project on track.
To find out we will complete either weekly or monthly analysis of the projects progress including the use of time & money, and quality assurance.
We will consider upcoming works and discuss any potential last minute changes you may want to make to the design before those stages are complete.

11.Project Completion and Commisioning

Having ensured frequent quality checked through the project, this process will involve final verification to ensure your chosen standard has been met.
After this verification we can apply for certification that confirms what was thoroughly designed is what was built.
You can now begin to familiarise yourself with your new home before the big day.
